Stable iron ore prices on international markets, high demand for slabs (that allowed most Ukrainian producers to close their production books for October), and also rising export prices of coils and plates have caused domestic CIS hot and cold rolled coil (HRC and CRC) prices to increase. Expectations for a better market situation in autumn has also provided support for CIS producers' price hike intention.
Accordingly, CIS producers have entered the flat steel market with 20$/mt price increases on average.
In particular, Ukrainian producers offers HRC with thickness of 2,5-8 mm at $540-545/mt (up $20/mt compared to August price), CRC with thickness of 0,5 mm at $650-655/mt, and CRC with thickness of 1,0-1,49 mm at $600-605/mt (up $15/mt compared to August price). All prices are ex-works and exclusive of VAT.
On the other hand, Russian producers offer HRC with thickness of 2,5 mm at the price level of $615-640/mt ex-works, including VAT. In the meantime, local Russian traders from central region are offering HRC of 2.5 mm thickness at $645-650/mt ex-warehouse, and HRC of 2 mm thickness at $655-660/mt ex-warehouse, including VAT for advance payments.
