New import offers gain acceptance in Turkish flat steel market

Flat steel demand in the Turkish import market has revived slightly this week, but it is still not at the desired levels. Meanwhile, new import offers to Turkey, which have been announced this week and indicated decreases as compared to last month, have gained acceptance by local market players.

The reason behind the decreases in import offers is that mills in the CIS are eager to carry out high volume shipments before the winter comes, while these mills also have high capacity levels for export.

As SteelOrbis has heard from market sources, Ukrainian mills' hot rolled coil (HRC) offers to the Turkish market are now standing at $530-540/mt CFR, while their cold rolled coil (CRC) offers are in the range of $605-610/mt CFR.

Meanwhile, Russian mills' HRC offers to Turkey are now at $555-565/mt CFR, while their CRC offers for 0.51 mm and above thickness are at $615-620 and their offers for thickness of below 0.51 mm are at $720-725/mt CFR.
