Chinese domestic steel plate prices increase

Monday, 11 February 2019 16:44:54 (GMT+3)   |   Shanghai

During the week ending February 11, average prices of steel plate in the Chinese domestic market have moved on an upward trend, while transaction activity in the overall steel plate market has been at low-to-medium levels. Average steel plate prices in China are presented in the table below.

During the given week, steelmakers have received plenty of orders from downstream users, contributing to the overall uptrend seen in domestic steel plate prices. Furthermore, the availability of sufficient funds after the long Chinese New Year holiday has also provided support for steel plate prices, while sentiment is upbeat as regards the future prospects for the steel plate market. At the same time, on the first trading day after the long holiday, ferrous metal futures prices in China have increased, bolstering the steel plate market. It is expected that steel plate prices in the Chinese domestic market will continue to rise in the coming week.
