During the week ending August 11, the average prices of Chinese domestic hot dip galvanized (HDG) have continued their upward trend, while overall transaction activity in the market has remained at low levels. Average HDG prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, hot rolled coil (HRC) futures prices indicated significant increases, providing support for increases in domestic finished steel prices, including prices of HDG. However, the low levels of transaction activity have limited the margins of the price increases made by HDG traders. Meanwhile, supplies for August are on the low side and discounts are scarcer in the market. It is thought that HDG prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely continue their rising trend in the coming week.
