During the week ending February 27, average cold rolled coil (CRC) prices in the Chinese domestic market have risen slightly, while transaction activity in the overall market has been at low-to-medium levels. Average cold rolled product prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, demand for CRC from downstream users has improved, while inventories in the CRC market have been at relatively low levels, with these factors providing support for domestic CRC prices. However, demand from the automobile industry has been slack and the off-season for this industry is expected to begin, which will negatively influence the CRC market. Nevertheless, the sector of home appliances, excluding air conditioners and fridges, will enter its traditional peak season, with a resulting positive impact on CRC prices. It is expected that CRC prices in the Chinese domestic market will increase further in the coming week.
