Over the past week, buyers in the local Turkish coated coil market have continued to make bookings only to meet their immediate needs and demand has remained at low levels. Due to the weakness of demand, buyers have exerted pressure on prices but since Turkish mills have not yet reflected the rises recorded in prices of hot rolled coil (HRC) - the raw material used in coated coil production - in their coated coil offers, they are unwilling to cut their domestic coated coil quotations. Additionally, it is observed that thin coated materials are sold for $10-20/mt lower than current prices. Market sources state that industrial maintenance works will accelerate as usual in August, and so they do not expect a revival in demand.
