Brazilian slab exporters are negotiating deals at an average of $475/mt, which is stable from last week under FOB conditions for basic commercial grades.
Prior to the imposition of tariffs in the US, Brazilian slab export prices ranged from $530/mt to $540/mt from August 2024 to March 2025.
As preliminary indications suggested, Brazilian slab exports reached 751,000 mt in June, up from 577,900 mt in May.
Ternium exported 275,800 mt of slabs at $540/mt to the US in June, and ArcelorMittal Pecém exported 148,800 mt at $539/mt, 64,300 mt at $497/mt, and 27,300 mt at $561/mt to the US, France, and Mexico, respectively.
ArcelorMittal Tubarão also exported 115,700 mt at $523/mt to the US; 49,400 mt at $544/mt to the UK; and 30,400 mt at $507/mt to Germany, while Gerdau shipped 39,300 mt to the US at $483/mt.
The US accounted for 77 percent of Brazil’s slab exports in June.
No slab imports were registered in Brazil in June, compared to 70,500 mt in May.
