Brazilian slab export prices hold steady for six weeks amid rising expectations

The export price for Brazilian slabs stayed at $485/mt, FOB for six consecutive weeks, with no changes due to seasonal trends, through late 2025 and early 2026.

Brazilian steel producers anticipate price increases in the coming weeks, with negotiations between Brazilian and US officials expected to resume still in January. However, it is uncertain whether the Venezuelan president’s arrest by US troops will impact the timeline.

In November, the average price of the Brazilian slabs exports was $497mt, FOB conditions but including quality extras.

Preliminary December data show slab exports declined from November's 641,500 mt, with an average price of $487/mt, FOB including quality extras.
