The Brazilian producers are negotiating HRC exports with their South American clients in a reference price of $800/mt, the same over the last four weeks, FOB conditions for the basic commercial grades.
In the Brazilian domestic market, HRC of the basic commercial grades is sold by producers, in medium to large volumes, at BRL 5,750/mt ($1,009/mt), also stable in BRL from four weeks ago, ex-works, full taxes except IPI.
According to the foreign trade authority, SECEX, in April, Brazil exported 2,100 mt and imported 55,300 mt of HRC, against respectively 5,600 mt and 130,400 mt in March.
The exports of April, all shipped by Usiminas, were destined to the US (1,500 mt at $668/mt) and to South American countries (600 mt at $875/mt), FOB conditions.
The imports were from Taiwan (19,400 mt at $595/mt), Egypt (19,100 mt at $595/mt), China (16,600 mt at $498/mt), and South Korea (200 mt at $856/mt), also FOB conditions.
