The Brazilian producers are negotiating HRC exports with their South American clients in a reference price of $1,220/mt, against $1,000/mt two weeks ago, FOB conditions for the basic commercial grades. The increase reflects higher international prices of the product and intensive domestic demand.
In April, Brazil exported 30,400 mt of HRC and imported 11,900 mt of the product, against 57,500 mt and 39,400 mt, respectively, in March.
The destinations of the exports in April were South American countries (30,000 mt at $648/mt) and Mexico (400 mt at $1,182/mt), while the exporters were ArcelorMittal (29,200 mt at $645/mt), Usiminas (900 mt at $995/mt) and CSN (300 mt at $753/mt), all FOB conditions.
The imports came chiefly from Russia (6,000 mt at $503/mt), Ukraine (3,700 mt at $504) and China (2,000 mt at $577/mt), while small volumes were shipped from South Korea and Italy, also FOB conditions.
In the Brazilian domestic market, HRC of the basic commercial grades is offered at BRL 7,269/mt ($1,379/mt), against BRL 6,092/mt two weeks ago, ex-works conditions, no taxes included. The price refers to high and medium sized volumes of the product, when sold directly to large consumers or to distributors. The increase reflects higher international prices of the product.
