Brazil imported 27,500 mt of CRC in June, 20 percent more than in May and, for the second consecutive month, reached the highest monthly volume in recent years.

The average FOB import price was 1.5 percent higher at $591/mt, for price deals probably closed in April.

The main origin was Russia (17,500 mt at $568/mt), followed by Asia (8,800 mt at $631/mt, of which 7900 mt from China at $607/mt), all FOB conditions.

A local trader told SteelOrbis that CRC imports remain in strong demand due to high domestic prices, currently in the range of BRL 3,000/mt ($920/mt), ex-works, full taxes except IPI.

Another local source mentioned current offers of Chinese CRC, FOB conditions, in a range of $500/mt considering basic commercial grades.
