Crude steel output up by 8.5% in Latin America

Crude steel production in Latin America reached 5.4 million mts in November, revealing a rise of 8.5% compared to the same period of last year. In the first eleven months of the year, crude steel production was up by 7.5% to 57.7 million mts in Latin American countries. Brazil took the first place among the Latin American countries with 30.1 million mts of crude steel production in the first eleven months of the year. Mexico produced 15.3 million mts crude steel with a rise of 9.9% while Argentina's crude steel production was recorded as 4.2 million mts with a rise of 1.1%. Crude steel production in Venezuela reached 4.2 million mts, up by 19%. Meanwhile, Chile surged crude steel production by 14.3% to 1.4 million mts. Crude steel production in Colombia and Peru was recorded as 675'000 mts and 660'000 mts respectively. On the other hand, Guatemala's crude steel production was down by 2.5% to 205'000 mts. Cuba produced 161'000 mts of steel with a decline of 15.6% and Paraguay's production amounted to 97'000 mts with a rise of 21%. Crude steel production in Ecuador, El Salvador and Uruguay reached 65'000 mts, 54'000 mts and 50'000 mts respectively.
