Zlatoust Metallurgical Works (ZMZ), a subsidiary of the Russian steel producer ESTAR Holding, has announced that in H1 this year it more than quintupled its commercial rolled steel product output to 181,000 mt, from 34,000 mt in H1 2009. Meanwhile, the plant's steel smelting increased by about 142 percent year on year to 116,000 mt from 48,000 mt in the same period last year.

In Q2 this year, ZMZ's  average monthly production of commercial steel products amounted to about 35,000 mt (totaling 104,000 mt for the whole quarter), which corresponds to the pre-crisis levels.

"The increase in output of finished steel products is due mainly to the recovery in demand for calibrated steel and steel products with special surface finish, which together constitute the traditional product range for ZMZ," reads the company's statement.

Also, in the second quarter of 2010, the factory received orders from automakers and resumed the supply of steel products to such car producing companies as GAZ, AvtoVAZ and UAZ. In May-June, ZMZ delivered 7,500 mt of steel products to these companies.
