Yenakievo Iron and Steel Works issues 2009 production results

The Ukrainian iron ore and steel producer Metinvest Holding (Metinvest) has announced the 2009 production results of its subsidiary Yenakievo Iron and Steel Works (EMZ).

Accordingly, in 2009 EMZ saw a 17.8 percent decrease in its pig iron production to 2.106 million mt, a 12.7 percent drop in its crude steel production to 2.385 million mt, a 16.7 percent reduction in its finished steel output to 2.256 million mt, and a 2.3 percent fall in its agglomerate production to 1.973 million mt, all compared to 2008.

In December, EMZ decreased its pig iron and crude steel production both by 1.7 percent, and reduced its finished steel output by 3.6 percent, all compared to the data for November. The respective figures in metric tons were 184,000, 209,500 and 196,500.
