World pig iron output down 5.2 percent in November from October

In the January-November period of this year, world pig iron production amounted to 1.08 billion mt, rising by 1.1 percent compared to the same period of 2013, according to the preliminary data covering 38 countries accounting for approximately 99 percent of total world blast furnace pig iron production, released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel).
 
In the given period, pig iron output in Asia amounted to 836.16 million mt, up 1.2 percent, with 654.11 million mt produced by China, remaining stable, 76.93 million mt produced by Japan, up 0.1 percent, and 49.16 million mt produced by India, up 7.1 percent - with all comparisons on year-on-year basis. Meanwhile, in the same period, EU countries produced 87.55 million mt of pig iron, up 3.5 percent, while the CIS produced 72.82 million mt, down 2.9 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
 
Meanwhile, in November this year global pig iron production amounted to 91.42 million metric tons, decreasing by 5.2 percent compared to October, but up 0.8 percent on year-on-year basis.

In November alone, pig iron output in Asia amounted to 69.67 million mt, up 1.5 percent, with 53.23 million mt produced by China, up 0.6 percent, 6.95 million mt produced by Japan, up 1.4 percent, and 4.38 million mt produced by India, up five percent - with all comparisons on year-on-year basis. Meanwhile, in the same month EU countries produced 7.86 million mt of pig iron, up 0.7 percent and the CIS produced 6.17 million mt, down 7.2 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
