Workers at Tata Steel’s IJmuiden plant in the Netherlands have suspended their strike until the afternoon of June 26, upon the company’s request for negotiations, according to media reports. The suspension came after two weeks of strike action.
A spokesman for Dutch workers union CNV said that strike action will resume immediately if the company does not come up with a proposal to meet the workers’ demands within two days. Late last week, production at IJmuiden halted for 24 hours as workers cut the supply of iron ore to the two blast furnaces, SteelOrbis understands.
Tata Steel Europe had asked the workers unions at its Dutch steel plant to negotiate in order to end the strike at the plant, as reported by SteelOrbis earlier.
