Weekly raw steel production in the US jumps 1.2 percent

The American Iron Steel Institute (AISI) reported Monday that US raw steel production increased 1.2 percent in the week ending February 9, following a decline in the last couple weeks.

Total raw steel production in the United States amounted to 1,822,000 net tons (nt) last week, representing a 1.2 percent increase from the 1,801,000 nt produced in the previous week and a 9.2 percent drop from the 2,007 nt produced in the same week a year ago.

The capacity utilization rate of US raw steelmaking facilities was 76.1 percent in the week ending February 9, compared to 75.2 percent in the previous week and 80.7 percent in the same week last year.
