Vietnamese steel producer Vingal Industrial Galvanizing JSC (Vnsteel) gained environmental approval from local administration of Dong Nai province for the capacity increase project at the company’s facility in Bien Hoa II Industrial Park, according to local media reports.
Capacity to increase to 60,000 mt/year
The project will raise total galvanized steel capacity from 40,000 mt to 60,000 mt to meet growing demand from the construction, power, and transportation sectors. The plating segment will see the most notable increase, rising from 15,000 mt to 45,000 mt.
Environmental impact and mitigation
According to the approved EIA report, the project will generate domestic and industrial wastewater, emissions from galvanizing processes, and solid industrial waste. The total hazardous waste volume is estimated at approximately 1.6 million kg/year,. To manage these risks, the company has installed four exhaust gas treatment systems with a combined capacity of 150,000 m3/hour, ensuring emissions meet national standards.
