Venezuela’s HBI producer Briquetera del Caroni increases production in 2016

Venezuelan state-run HBI producer Briquetera del Caroni increased its output by 72.3 percent in 2016, year-on-year, to 127,490 mt from 73,958 mt in 2015, according to a media report.
 
The company, which is currently undergoing a major maintenance program, reportedly reached the goals set by the Venezuelan government. Briquetera del Caroni’s major maintenance program started in October last year and is expected to end on January this year.
 
The company is part of a major Venezuela-state run holding, Corporación Venezolana de Guayana (CVG), which also owns HBI producers Comsigua and Briqven. According to the media report, Briqven is also undergoing a major maintenance program.
