France-based pipe manufacturer Vallourec has announced that it has obtained the necessary permissions for full production resumption at the Pau Branco iron ore mine in Brazil by the end of the second quarter at the latest.

The mine’s operations were temporarily suspended in January last year following flooding-related damage and were partially restarted in May last year.

According to the statement, the company sold four million mt of iron ore from the mine in 2022, well below the full potential of an annual 8.7 million mt. In the first quarter this year, the company sold approximately 1.5 million mt of iron ore from the given mine, in line with the guidance.
