Vale announced this week that it will launch in March the first phase of its iron ore storage and distribution center in Malaysia: receiving a Valemax vessel that will bring larger quantities of the miner’s iron ore in closer proximity to China’s ports.

By 2018, the company plans to increase iron ore production by 50 percent to more than 450 million metric tons per year--increasing market share in China is vital to accomplishing that goal.
