Brazil-based iron ore producer Vale has announced its decision to terminate acquisition talks with Switzerland-based mining group Xstrata, given that the targeted company declined Vale's latest offer.

Nevertheless, Vale expressed its belief that the acquisition of Xstrata would benefit both companies' shareholders and therefore has reserved the right to make another offer under certain circumstances.
