Valcovny Plechu, which is a subsidiary of Czech Republic-based Mittal Steel Ostava, has begun supplying electrical sheets to Turkey and Southern Korea for the first time in the company's history. “These are prospective markets for us. In Turkey there is no producer of such a material and its price is rising. In South Korea there is one renowned producer of these sheets but we entered this market successfully as well”, said Valcovny Plechu CEO and chairman of the BoD Tomas Mischinger. The company management has also decided, since the demand for these special sheets is high in both domestic and export markets, to direct all investments in the coming years to electrical sheet production equipment. Since 2003, Valcovny Plechu has invested CZK170 million ($7.6 million) in the production of electrical sheets of transformer or dynamo grades. Thanks to these investments, the company has strengthened its position in its existing market and expanded to new markets.
