Uzbekistan-based steel producer Uzmetkombinat is continuing its investment program for 2007-2011 directed at modernization and at technical and equipment upgrades of the mill. The program includes nine investment projects at a total cost of $50 million.

As a result of the modernization program, Uzmetkombinat plans to increase its production capacity, expand its production range and improve the quality of manufactured products.

During 2008-2009, Uzmetkombinat is planning to reconstruct a pusher-type reheat furnace at the plant's longs rolling workshop No. 2.  The reconstruction will lead to reduction of natural gas use and, thereby, decrease the production cost. During 2008-2009, the producer is also planning to modernize the ball rolling mill to increase its production capacity. Moreover, throughout all the period covered by the program, Uzmetkombinat plans to replace outdated equipment.
