US steel scrap exports decline in February

According to the statistics released by the US International Trade Commission (US ITC), in February 2015 exports of steel scrap from the US amounted to 985,257 mt, reflecting a decline of 5.5 percent compared to January 2015 and a decrease of about 18 percent compared to February 2014. The value of scrap exports in February 2015, at $347.9 million, decreased month-on-month from $360.8 million in January 2015 and year-on-year from $479.1 million in February 2014.

In February 2015, Turkey was the leading scrap export destination of the US, importing 391,090 mt. Taiwan received 126,483 mt of scrap from the US in the given month, followed by Egypt with 68,161 mt of scrap and Thailand with 63,495 mt.
