US Steel Corporation has announced that it has restarted blast furnace No. 8 at Gary Works due to improved demand and higher price conditions.

The furnace has approximately 1.5 million net tons of annual raw steel equivalent capability.

In September last year, the company temporarily idled blast furnace No. 8 due to unfavorable market conditions and the high levels of imported goods, as SteelOrbis previously reported.
