US steel mill shipments down 3.1 percent in November

The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported today that for the month of November 2019, US steel mills shipped 7,665,006 net tons, a 3.1 percent decrease from the 7,914,276 net tons shipped in the previous month, October 2019, and a 2.1 percent decrease from the 7,832,092 net tons shipped in November 2018. 

Shipments year-to-date in 2019 are 88,157,028 net tons, a 0.8 percent increase versus 2018 shipments of 87,475,473 net tons for 11 months.

A comparison of November shipments to the previous month of October shows the following changes: hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip, down 4 percent; cold rolled sheets, down 5 percent; and hot rolled sheets, down 7 percent.
