According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, monthly steel exports in June this year down 2.8 percent from May and down 20.0 percent year on year to 560,553 mt. In terms of value, US steel exports in June totaled $1.08 billion, compared to $1.08 billion in May and $1.26 billion in June last year.
Steel exports to Mexico in June were down 1.8 percent compared to May and were down 8.4 percent year on year to 329,037 mt, while exports to Canada were up 0.09 percent month on month and down 30.9 percent compared to June last year to 198,988 mt.
Other top destinations for US steel exports in June included China with 3,974 mt, Brazil with 2,112 mt, and the Bahamas with 1,391 mt.
Major steel products exported in June include HDG at 105,572 mt, hot rolled sheets at 52,315 mt, cut-length steel plates at 75,011 mt, cold rolled sheets at 61,214 mt, and plates in coil at 30,340 mt.
