US rig counts edge up while Canadian count drops week-on-week

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending March 24, 2023, the US rotary rig count increased by four to 758 rigs.

The number of rigs drilling for gas remained unchanged at 162, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by four to 593. The overall US rig count is up by 88 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by 42 to 165 rigs in the week ending March 24. The Canadian rig count is up by 25 rigs compared to the same reporting period last year.
