US rig count up slightly while Canada’s surges

Baker Hughes reported Friday that for the week ending June 12, the US rig count increased by two to 1,759, following a nine-rig increase a week ago (through June 3). The rig count was down 194 from 1,953 during the same week a year ago. The oil rig count was down by four to 1,391, and the gas rig count rose by seven to 362.

Meanwhile, the rig count in Canada surged by 80 to 294 for the week ending June 12. Canada's rig count was still down two from 296 during the same week a year ago.
