According to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ending on June 13, 2020, domestic raw steel production was 1,210,000 net tons while the capability utilization rate was 54 percent.
Production for the week ending June 13, 2020 is up 1.3 percent from the previous week ending June 6, 2020 when production was 1,195,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 53.3 percent.
Production was 1,863,000 net tons in the week ending June 13, 2019 while the capability utilization then was 80.1 percent. The current week production represents a 35.1 percent decrease from the same period in the previous year.
Adjusted year-to-date production through June 13, 2020 was 36,701,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 68 percent. That is down 17.7 percent from the 44,587,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 81.2 percent.
