US raw steel production dips 0.7 percent week-on-week

According to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ending on February 4, 2017, US domestic raw steel production was 1,723,000 net tons while the capability utilization rate was 72.7 percent.
 
Production for the week ending February 4, 2017 is down 0.7 percent from the previous week ending January 28, 2017 when production was 1,736,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 73.3 percent.
 
Production was 1,665,000 net tons in the week ending February 4, 2016 while the capability utilization then was 71.2 percent. The current week production represents a 3.5 percent increase from the same period in the previous year.
 
Adjusted year-to-date production through February 4, 2017 was 8,562,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 72.2 percent. That is up 5.8 percent from the 8,094,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 68.9 percent.
