According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of plates in coil totaled 27,602 mt in January 2023, up 54.9 percent from December but down 32.6 percent from January 2022. By value, plates in coil exports totaled $29.4 million in January, compared to $18.7 million in the previous month and $48.1 million the same month last year.
The US shipped the most plates in coil to Mexico in January with 18,580 mt, compared to 8,797 mt in December and 23,995 mt in January 2022. Other top destinations included Canada, with 8,974 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US plates in coil exports in January.
