US plates in coil exports up 30.6 percent in October

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of plates in coil totaled 23,169 mt in October 2018, up 30.6 percent from September but down 42.2 percent from October 2017 levels. By value, plates in coil exports totaled $20.9 million in October, compared to $16.7 million in the previous month and $20.0 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most plates in coil to Mexico in October with 17,557 mt, compared to 13,172 mt in September and 28,632 mt in October 2017. Other top destinations included Canada, with 5,109 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US plates in coil exports in October.
