US mechanical tubing imports down 16.9 percent in February

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of mechanical tubing totaled 48,554 mt in February 2020, down 16.9 percent from January but up 24.2 percent from February 2019 levels. By value mechanical tubing imports totaled $62.6 million in February 2020, compared to $75.1 million in the previous month and $54.7 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most mechanical tubing from Mexico in February, with 22,218 mt, compared to 26,648 mt in January and 10,045 mt in February 2019. Other top sources of imported mechanical tubing in February include Canada, with 9,023 mt; Germany, with 3,603 mt; Argentina, with 1,983 mt; and France, with 1,552 mt.
