US hot rolled bar exports down 42.4 percent in April

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot rolled bar totaled 15,587 mt in April 2020, down 42.4 percent from March and down 36.8 percent from April 2019 levels. By value, hot rolled bar exports totaled $19.2 million in April, compared to $30.3 million in the previous month and $31.9 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most hot rolled bar to Canada in April with 8,907 mt, compared to 13,883 mt in March and 9,360 mt in April 2019. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 6,099 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US hot rolled bar exports in April.
