US HDG exports up 37.1 percent in January

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip totaled 106,476 mt in January 2023, up 37.1 percent from December and up 2.6 percent from January 2022. By value, HDG exports totaled $147.6 million in January, compared to $110.2 million in the previous month and $142.6 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most HDG to Canada in January with 62,248 mt, compared to 43,846 mt in December and 49,123 mt in January 2022. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 42,655 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US HDG exports in January.
