On September 29, 2006, the US Department of Commerce (DOC) initiated an antidumping duty administrative review on certain cut-to-length carbon steel plate imported from two Romanian producers. The period of review is August 1, 2005, through December 15, 2005.
The DOC has preliminarily determined that Romanian producer Mittal Steel Galati (MS Galati) made sales to the US market at less than normal value during the period of review. On the other hand, since Metalexportimport (MEI) was not involved with any of the US sales during the period of review, the DOC has decided to assign a preliminary dumping margin to MS Galati only and has announced its intention to rescind the review with respect to MEI.
Accordingly, the preliminary weighted-average dumping margin existing for the period August 1, 2005, through December 15, 2005 is 1.02 for MS Galati.
