US cut-length plate imports down 20.8 percent in February

According to delayed final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cut-length plate totaled 49,630 mt in February 2019, down 20.8 percent from January but up 4.8 percent from February 2018 levels. By value, cut-length plate imports totaled $42.3 million in February 2019, compared to $55.5 million in the previous month and $36.6 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most cut-length plate from Korea in February, with 17,034 mt, compared to 38,032 mt in January and 18,428 mt in February 2018. Other top sources of imported cut-length plate in February include Ukraine, with 13,270 mt; Canada, with 8,695 mt; Bulgaria, with 5,100 mt; and Mexico, with 2,429 mt.
