US and Canadian steel service center shipments rise again in August

The modest year-over-year growth in steel service center shipments of the last four months continued in August, according to a report today from the Metals Service Center Institute (MSCI).

US service center steel shipments in August 2017 increased by 2.7 percent from August 2016. Steel product inventories decreased 1.9 percent from August a year ago.

Meanwhile, Canadian service center shipments of steel products in August 2017 increased by 6.2 percent from August 2016. Steel product inventories increased 2.9 percent from August a year ago.
