Urban railway investments increase in China in 2014

As stated at the opening of the Rail Metro China 2015 exhibition in Shanghai on April 8, in 2014 a total investment of RMB 285.7 billion ($46 billion) was made in urban rail construction projects in 36 cities in China, up 33 percent on the urban rail construction investment total in 2013, according to Xinhua News Agency.

Meanwhile, China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has stated that at the end of 2014 22 cities in China had 101 urban railway lines, with an operating length of 3,155 kilometers. It is expected that 50 cities in China will have urban railway systems by the end of 2020.
