Ural Steel, a steel producing subsidiary of Russian iron ore and steel producer Metalloinvest Holding (Metalloinvest), has announced that it has installed a new high-class drop-weight metal testing complex supplied by IMATEK, which will allow it to significantly expand its rolled products range.

Accordingly, the new drop-weight metal testing complex will broaden Ural Steel's opportunities to control the quality of hot rolled plate, which is so important for satisfying the rising demand for high-quality steel. The new complex will allow the testing of hot rolled plate for tube-rolling with thickness of up to 40 mm (the existing analogs provided only 14 mm).

Ural Steel becomes the first company in Russia to install the new IMATEK drop-weight metal testing complex.
