SteelOrbis reported Wednesday that Murilo Osorio, General Director of Business Committee of the Villacero Group has resigned from his post and will be leaving the group after serving there three years. Further details of the situation were later reported by major Mexican newspaper El Universal, including news that Armando Lozano Ruiz will assume Osorio’s role at Villacero, where he has over 25 years of experience.

Additionally, the article noted that Villacero is expected to reduce its workforce by 50 percent due to competition with both Chinese steel and domestic integrated mills. Ruiz will have the challenge of recovering the company’s sales volumes, which are said to be at 1.5 million mt, half the 3 million mt it sold three years ago, according to El Universal.
