Unicoil signs a contract with Danieli

According to recent market news, Saudi Arabian steel producer Unicoil has reached an agreement with Italian equipment supplier Danieli to materialize its new projects regarding its plant in Al-Jubail on east coast of South Arabia. Accordingly, Danieli will install single-strand cold reversing mill, continuous hot-dipped galvanizing mill, slitting, recoiling, inspection and pickling line. With these installations, the mill will have an annual capacity of between 250'000-400'000 tons. The new mill will roll galvanized coils to thickness between 0.25mm and 1.5mm, and the widths of 600mm and 1350mm. The construction, which is estimated to cost $160 million, is scheduled to commence in April 2004 and the production to commence by 2006. The company officials stated that, the project holds great importance for the company as the galvanized coil mill will be the first private sector mill in the country.
