Ukrainian pig iron exports increase in Jan-Aug, scrap exports down

According to the data released by metal trading enterprise Ukrainian Mining and Metallurgical Company (UGMK), in January-August Ukrainian exports of pig iron increased by 7.9 percent year on year to 1.167 million mt.

 

In August alone, exports of pig iron from Ukraine decreased by 0.7 percent compared to July, dropping to 144,960 mt.

 

In January-August this year, Ukrainian imports of pig iron decreased by 42.4 percent year on year to 21,300 mt.

 

Also according to UGMK, in the first eight months of the current year Ukraine's scrap exports decreased by 25 percent year on year to 360,400 mt. In August alone, Ukraine's scrap exports declined by 83.2 percent compared to July, decreasing to 6,400 mt.

 

In the first eight months of the current year, Ukraine's scrap imports decreased by 35.1 percent year on year to 59,400 mt.
