Ukraine’s metallurgical sector posts UAH 894.7 million loss in January

According to the data issued by the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine, in January 2011 Ukraine's metallurgical sector registered an aggregate loss of UAH 894.7 million (about $112.4 million) compared to the aggregate loss of about UAH 1.352 billion (about $170 million) in January 2010.
 
Accordingly, in January 2011, 51.6 percent of the total number of Ukrainian metallurgical companies posted a combined profit of UAH 404.2 million (about $50.7 million), while the remaining 48.4 percent of companies registered a combined loss of UAH 1.299 billion (about $163.2 million).
