Ukraine’s coal output increases by three percent in H1

According to the preliminary data issued by Ukraine's Ministry of Coal Industry, in the first half of this year the country's coal mining companies increased their coal output by three percent year on year to 36.95 million mt.

Specifically, Ukraine's H1 production of coking coal amounted to 12.96 million mt - up 2.9 percent, while output of power-generating coal totaled 24 million mt - up three percent, both compared to H1 2009.

Meanwhile, the state-owned mines controlled by the Ministry of Coal Industry reduced their coal production by 4.2 percent in H1 2010 to 18.59 million mt, including 4.23 million mt of coking coal - down 10.3 percent year on year, and 14.35 million mt of power-generating coal - down 2.3 percent year on year.
