According to the preliminary data issued by Ukraine's Ministry of Coal Industry, in the first nine months of this year the country's coal mining companies increased their aggregate coal output by 3.5 percent year on year to about 55.4 million mt.
Specifically, Ukraine's production of coking coal in January-September amounted to 17.8 million mt - down eight percent, while output of power-generating coal totaled 37.6 million mt - up ten percent, both compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, the state-owned mines controlled by the Ministry of Coal Industry reduced their coal production by 2.9 percent in January-September this year to 28.167 million mt, including 5.612 million mt of coking coal - down 17.6 percent year on year, and 22.555 million mt of power-generating coal - up 1.7 percent year on year.
