Ukraine issues February 2009 export data

According to the data for February 2009, Ukraine decreased its pig iron exports by 17.6 percent year on year to 40,610 mt. The largest consumer of Ukrainian origin pig iron during the period in question was China, which imported 24,000 mt of this raw material from Ukraine, i.e. 59.1 percent of Ukraine's total pig iron exports.  

On the other hand, in February 2009 Ukraine decreased its ferroalloy exports by 63.9 percent, its iron ore exports by 30.3 percent and its scrap exports by 54.6 percent year on year. The respective figures in metric tons were 31,800, 1.358 million and 17,840.

During the second month of 2009, Ukrainian exports of steel pipes decreased by 26.9 percent to 115,770 mt, Ukraine's semi-finished steel product exports dropped by 6.5 percent to 957,210 mt, its exports of flat rolled steel decreased by 37.4 percent to 481,360 mt (including 387,850 mt of HRC and 66,480 mt of CRC), and its longs exports dropped by 39.2 percent to 351,070 mt - all compared to the corresponding month of 2008.
