Ukraine allocates UAH 286 million for liquidation of unviable coal mines in 2010

The Ukrainian cabinet of ministers has allocated to the Ministry of Coal Industry UAH 286.138 million (about $36.2 million) from the stabilization fund of the state budget to finance projects for the liquidation of the country's economically unviable coal mines in 2010.

The list contains 103 coal mines, two mine managements, one open-pit coal mine, as well as a state enterprise included in the production association for brown coal mining.

Ukraine's Ministry of Coal Industry considers the privatization of cost-effective state-owned coal enterprises and the liquidation of the uneconomic ones to constitute the main part of reform of the industry.
